Venture Connectors was pleased to host the team from Beyond Zero in June, who shared the manufacturing firm’s journey from startup to success, and how they found the perfect partner to manufacture their patented machines that turn alcohol into ice. The team includes Jason Sherman, Tim Couch, Bob Mandel and Paolo Pincente.
Jason Sherman is the inventor and founder of Beyond Zero. A master of thermodynamics with no formal training, he developed the only machine in the world that makes, stores and serves ice made of alcohol. Mr. Sherman relocated the company to Louisville from Miami in 2015 to manufacture the company’s products in partnership with Winston Industries.
Sherman comes from a background of finance and entrepreneurship with experience in Florida, New York, Atlanta and internationally in Doha, Qatar. Prior to founding Beyond Zero, Sherman served as finance director at Quickparts.com, where he learned about manufacturing processes and helped the company become an “INC. 500 Fastest Growing Company in America.” Sherman received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgia State University, and his juris doctorate from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center. He also studied international law at Cambridge University’s Downing College in England.

Couch previously served as on- and off-premise manager at Redbull North America and was part of the team that launched the product in Florida. He later worked in management positions at Southern Wine & Spirits and Constellation Brands, and was a key member of the Svedka vodka product roll-out in the Florida market.
Bob Mandel is chief financial officer for Beyond Zero. He is an accomplished senior executive with over 30 years of experience in financial management and operations. Mandel’s expertise lies in scaling early-stage companies into high-growth entities, and he has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions, private placements and restructurings. He previously served as CFO for OptionMonster Holdings Inc. and Univa UD.
